Description

The large Yadur is a rectangular wall mirror measuring 100 by 76cm, set in a cast aluminium frame finished in antique brass. The frame face is rounded rather than flat, swelling out from the glass in a half round section, and the casting leaves it pitted and grainy all over so the brass reads pale gold on the high points and darker in the pockets. The corners are mitred and the glass sits behind a narrow step in the inner edge.

It is made to hang either way up. Upright it fills a hall wall; on its side it spans a console or a mantelpiece without climbing too high. At 12.15kg it is heavy enough that the fixing has to reach something solid.

The frame is cast aluminium and the glass is plain, with no bevel at the edge. Because the texture comes out of the casting rather than being added, it varies along each side of the frame, and the brass shifts from a warm gold where the surface is smoother to a greyer, dustier tone where it is roughest. The Yadur range also holds a smaller rectangular mirror and a full length one.
