Description

This is a set of five Christmas candle holders and tree figures in green stoneware, each piece shaped like a little fir tree. The ribbed, cone-shaped pieces have a socket in the top for a candle, while a tall, flat tree with swept branches and a small pointed tree stand among them as figures, so the set makes a winter scene whether the candles are lit or not. The set measures 12cm long, 6.5cm wide and 25cm tall, and the pieces step down in height from the tall branching tree to the smallest ribbed holder. Together they weigh 0.84KG.

They are made for the festive season and look most at home where people gather in December: along a windowsill, down the centre of a dining table, across a mantelpiece or on a hall sideboard. Grouped close together they read as one small cluster of trees; spaced out along a shelf they lead the eye from one end to the other. The green suits a room already dressed with seasonal foliage, and it sits just as comfortably beside natural wood, painted panelling or marble. They make a thoughtful gift for anyone who decorates for Christmas, and because the pieces are separate you can split them between rooms.

Every piece is made of 100% stoneware with a glazed finish. Stoneware is a dense, hard-fired ceramic, and the glaze gives these trees a glossy surface that catches the light. On the ribbed holders the glaze settles into the grooves and picks out each ring, while on the tall tree it runs along the trunk and branches. The candles and other styling props shown are not included. For an easy arrangement, set the tall tree at the back with the candle holders in front, tallest to smallest, so the flames rise in steps against the green.
