Description

The Vivan is a solid mango wood bed frame with a headboard cut in close horizontal grooves and a gentle curve along its top edge. The same grooving runs along both side rails and the foot rail, and the four legs are left plain and square. The base is a sprung slat frame, flexible wooden slats held in webbing straps and fixed across the rails, so the mattress goes straight onto them.

As a King the frame is 159cm across and 215cm from head to foot, and the headboard rises to 110cm, so it wants a clear 160cm of wall. It will take up to 375kg. Against a plain wall with a bedside table on each side, the headboard stands well above the pillows.

The wood is mango throughout, a hardwood with a strong grain, and the frame is finished by hand, so the figure runs differently along every rail and no two beds look quite alike. The grooves are carved one at a time. The Vivan bed is made in King and Super King, and the Vivan range also runs to a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a bedside table and a pantry cupboard. The mattress is not included.

Frequently Asked

How big is the frame?

159cm across and 215cm from head to foot, with the headboard 110cm high. This is the King; the Vivan bed is also made in Super King.

Does it need a separate base?

No. The slats are sprung and fixed across the rails, so the mattress sits straight onto them.

How much weight will it take?

375kg.

Is the headboard upholstered?

No. It is solid mango wood, carved with close horizontal grooves and curved along the top edge.

How do I look after it?

The frame is sealed, but wipe it over regularly with a soft dry cloth in the direction of the grain to take off dust and moisture. Mild soap and water can be used sparingly; too much water will damage the finish. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasives off it, keep it out of strong direct sunlight, and do not leave rubber or plastic sitting on the wood.
