Description

The Knightsbridge Vire is a 630mm (2ft) IP65-rated tri-proof batten with a 10W integrated LED and CCT switching between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K. The polycarbonate housing and diffuser are sealed against water spray and dust ingress, while IK08 impact protection guards the fitting against knocks and mechanical damage. The CCT switch sits inside the endcap, allowing the colour temperature to be set on installation or changed later without rewiring.

Designed for utility areas, storage rooms, garages, sheds, outdoor canopies and plant rooms, the Vire delivers 1100lm at 3000K or 4000K, rising to 1200lm at 5700K. The 120° beam angle provides wide, even distribution along narrow corridors or across small workshop spaces. The through-wiring capacity of 800W allows multiple battens to be daisy-chained from a single supply point, reducing cable runs and junction boxes in multi-fitting installations.

The fitting mounts via quick-release brackets included in the box, with tool-free push-fit terminals for mains and loop connections. Twist-lock endcaps allow access to the wiring chamber without tools, speeding up installation and maintenance. The white polycarbonate body is anti-corrosion and suited to damp environments including covered outdoor areas, unheated outbuildings and commercial washrooms. The constant-current driver is integrated and rated for Class I earthed circuits on 230V 50Hz mains.

The LED module carries a 50,000-hour L70B50 rating, equivalent to approximately 11 years of operation at 12 hours per day before dropping to 70% of initial output. The fitting is non-dimmable and carries a 5-year manufacturer's warranty. CRI >85 provides colour rendering suitable for functional and task lighting applications.

The CCT switch is located inside the endcap. Remove the endcap using the twist-lock mechanism, set the switch to the desired colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5700K), then replace the endcap. No rewiring is required.

Can this be used outdoors?

Yes. The IP65 rating protects against water jets from any direction and dust ingress, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas such as canopies, carports and outbuildings. It should not be used in areas with permanent water submersion or direct weather exposure without a protective canopy.

What does IK08 impact protection mean?

IK08 means the fitting can withstand an impact of 5 joules, equivalent to a 1.7kg mass dropped from 295mm. This level of protection is typical for fittings in workshops, garages and plant rooms where mechanical knocks are expected.

How many Vire battens can be daisy-chained?

The through-wiring capacity is rated at 800W. Each 10W batten draws 10W, so theoretically up to 80 units could be looped, but practical installations should account for cable voltage drop and circuit protection limits. Consult a qualified electrician for multi-fitting installations.
