Our Villette chopping board is a round slab of polished beige marble crossed by a wide band of brass that reaches out beyond the edge to form the handle. It is 25cm long, 30.5cm wide and 1.5cm thick, made from 65% marble and 35% brass, and it weighs 1.96KG. That weight matters: a board this solid sits steadily on the worktop while you slice, and it feels substantial in the hand as you carry it to the table. Marble is a natural stone, so its soft veining varies from one slab to the next.

In the kitchen it is ready for everyday jobs: slicing a loaf, cutting fruit or portioning a wedge of cheese. Marble stays cool to the touch, a quality bakers value when working butter into pastry.
