Description

This is a set of four placemats woven from seagrass and cotton, in a Natural colour that keeps the grassy tones of the fibre. Each mat is 45cm long and 33cm wide, a generous rectangle with room to spare on a table top. Bands of cotton run the length of every mat between the rows of seagrass, and at both short ends the cotton is left loose as a tasselled fringe, so the pattern sits in the weave itself rather than being printed on.

Laid along a kitchen table, the four mats bring a natural, textured layer to bare wood, and their Natural colour sits easily with oak, pine and painted finishes alike. They are just as useful away from the table: one under a potted plant or a vase on a sideboard, another on a desk beneath a lamp base or a stack of books, or a pair on an open shelf to soften the hard lines of wood or metal. They suit a relaxed country or coastal look and work as well in a kitchen as in a conservatory, a hallway or a living room. When you want the table bare again, they roll up and tuck into a drawer.
