Vefa is a tall terracotta vase in a natural tone, 28.5cm tall and 11.5cm across, with a pale, speckled glaze laid over it in long looped bands. The bands run down the body like tall open rectangles, and the glaze pools and drips where it gathers, so the pattern reads loose and painterly. The body is a straight cylinder that steps in to a short, narrower foot, which lifts it slightly and gives the outline a neat finish.

That height and slim width make it a vase for long stems: a single branch, a few tall grasses or a loose bunch of dried flowers, gathered upright by the narrow body. It sits well on a mantelpiece, a console table, a bedside table or a deep windowsill, and it is slim enough for a bookshelf where a wider vase would crowd the books.
