Vattu Mango Wood Plug In Wall Light - Natural

The Vattu is a plug in wall light with a wooden shade: a domed brass wall plate on a screw, a swan neck curving out and over, and a cone of mango wood hanging from it with the open end down. The grain runs in horizontal bands across the cone, pale honey through to grey, and the bands land differently on every one. A rust coloured cord drops from the plate. It is 20cm tall, 13cm wide and stands 23cm out from the wall.

It plugs into a socket, so it goes up without an electrician. Wood lets no light through, so all of it leaves the open bottom of the cone: above a bedside table it throws a defined pool down the wall. That makes it a light to read by rather than a light for a room. It takes one GU10 bulb up to 8W, it works on a dimmer, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The shade is mango wood and the plate and neck are aluminium under an antique brass finish. Mango wood shifts in tone as it ages, so the colour will not stay exactly as it arrives.

Does it need wiring in?

No. It plugs into a socket, and the cord runs 2m from the wall plate.

Does light come through the wood?

No. The shade is solid mango wood, so the light leaves the open bottom only and lands in a defined pool below.

What bulb does it take?

One GU10, up to 8W.

Can it go on a dimmer?

Will the wood change colour?

Mango wood shifts in tone over time, so it will not stay exactly as it arrives.
