Description

A twelve-piece dinner set in earthenware, in a grey reactive glaze laid on in layers. A reactive glaze moves as it fires, so the tone shifts across a single piece as well as from one piece to the next, and the surface carries that variation rather than a flat even colour.

Every piece is food safe and goes in the dishwasher and the microwave, which makes this a set for eating from every day rather than one kept back for best. All twelve together weigh 6.64kg. The Valinha range is made in the same grey throughout, so a set can be added to from dinner plates, side plates, cereal and serving bowls, a footed bowl, a round platter and jugs, all sold singly.

Each piece is made from local Portuguese clay, poured by hand into a mould and finished by hand afterwards. The glaze goes on in layers, and because it reacts in the kiln no two pieces come out of it alike.

Twelve.

Is it dishwasher and microwave safe?

Yes, both, and it is food safe.

What is it made of?

Earthenware, from local Portuguese clay.

Will every piece look the same?

No. The glaze is reactive and goes on in layers, so tone and texture vary from piece to piece.

How do I look after it?

Wash it after every use so it does not stain, using a mild detergent, and do not leave it to soak. Handle it with care to prevent chipping.
