Description

The Knightsbridge UTP CAT6a RJ45 network outlet provides a single shuttered unshielded twisted pair socket behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate. Rated to the ANSI/TIA/EIA 568B.2-10 standard, the outlet supports data transmission up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet over copper cable when paired with certified CAT6a cabling, while remaining backward compatible with CAT5e and CAT6 network infrastructure.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation where wired network connectivity is required at wall level, the outlet suits home offices, media rooms, network equipment closets and any space where Wi-Fi coverage is insufficient or where wired connectivity provides more stable throughput. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The brushed chrome finish pairs with contemporary, industrial and warm-toned interiors.

The 87.5mm square faceplate is constructed from 201 stainless steel with a directional brushed finish that minimises fingerprints and reflections. The outlet requires a minimum 35mm back box depth for installation and projects 4.3mm from the wall when fitted. The shuttered port prevents dust ingress when the socket is not in use, and the IDC terminal block inside the outlet accepts standard UTP cable termination. The IP20 rating makes this suitable for dry indoor locations only.

What speed does CAT6a support?

CAT6a is rated for 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBASE-T) over distances up to 100 metres when used with certified CAT6a cabling. The outlet remains backward compatible with CAT5e and CAT6 networks at their respective speed ratings.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 35mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the outlet and re-clipped without disturbing the internal cable termination.

Can it be used with standard network patch cables?

Yes. The RJ45 port accepts standard Ethernet patch cables. For full CAT6a performance, use CAT6a-rated patch cables. CAT5e and CAT6 cables will work but at their own lower performance ceilings.
