Description

The Knightsbridge Cat6 RJ45 outlet module is a 25 x 50mm euro-module format networking socket designed to fit standard grid faceplates and modular accessory plates. The module uses IDC (insulation displacement contact) terminals on the rear, allowing Cat6 cable to be punched down without pre-stripping the individual conductors.

Designed for residential, office and light commercial network installations, the module fits any euro-module faceplate system that accepts 25 x 50mm inserts. This allows it to be combined with power sockets, HDMI modules, USB ports and other data outlets on a single faceplate. The 18mm recessed depth requires a minimum 25mm back box, making it compatible with standard UK single-gang and double-gang mounting boxes.

The white ABS construction matches standard white faceplates and provides IP20 ingress protection, suitable for dry indoor environments. The Cat6 rating supports Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) and can handle network speeds up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet over shorter cable runs, making it future-proof for most domestic and small-office applications.

The module is designed for UTP (unshielded twisted pair) Cat6 cable. Solid-core cable is recommended for fixed installations, as it punches down more reliably into IDC terminals than stranded cable.

Can it be used with standard UK faceplates?

Yes, provided the faceplate accepts euro-module (25 x 50mm) inserts. Knightsbridge produces compatible grid faceplates in various gang sizes and finishes. The module will not fit traditional UK socket faceplates designed for complete socket mechanisms.

What network speeds does Cat6 support?

Cat6 is rated for Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) over runs up to 100m, and can handle 10 Gigabit Ethernet over shorter cable runs (typically up to 55m). This makes it suitable for most home and small-office network requirements.

What back box depth is needed?

A minimum 25mm back box depth is required. Standard UK single-gang and double-gang metal back boxes meet this requirement. The module's 18mm recessed depth leaves 7mm clearance for cable bends and terminations inside the box.
