Description

Trudy is a small stoneware candle holder shaped like a bird. Its tall, upright body holds a single taper candle at the top, while the bird's head and breast curve out from one side, finished with a tiny painted eye. The body is brown with a glossy surface; a painted wing sits on the flank, and a band of linked loops circles the rim. It stands 12.5cm tall, 9cm long and 6cm wide, so it is a compact piece, nearer in size to an ornament than to a tall candlestick, and at 0.49KG it feels solid in the hand.

Its size suits the spots where you want a candle without giving up much space: a side table, the corner of a desk, a sideboard, a mantelpiece or a bookshelf. With a taper candle fitted it gives a slim, upright line of light; unlit, the bird still holds its own as a small ornament, which makes it an easy gift for anyone fond of painted ceramics or bird motifs.
