These two stoneware cups are shaped like a winner's trophy, each with a handle on either side, a deep rounded bowl and a short footed base. On the front of each sits a large star bearing No. 1, edged with a border of small dots, and the foot is marked with fine vertical stripes. The two cups are decorated differently from one another, so the pair is multicoloured rather than matching, which makes it easy to tell whose cup is whose. Each holds 150ml, a small cup sized for a child's drink rather than a full mug, and measures 12.5cm long, 7.5cm wide and 10cm tall. They are made from 100% stoneware, a dense clay fired hard, so each feels solid in the hand.
