Description

This is a small stoneware platter shaped like a pretzel. The twisted knot of the bake is painted in glossy brown across its face and scattered with little dots like coarse salt. It measures 23.5cm long, 14cm wide and 2.5cm tall, so it is a compact serving piece rather than a centrepiece platter. There is room for a handful of biscuits, a few pastries or a pile of pretzels, and it is small enough to pass along the table. The outline follows the pretzel itself, curving in where the loops meet, and a low raised rim runs all the way round.

We think of it as a Christmas piece first. Set it beside a mug of hot chocolate for an afternoon treat, fill it with gingerbread or butter biscuits for guests, or put it out with mince pies on the sideboard through December.
