Description

Toryn is a mouthblown marbled glass vase with a wavy rim that folds and dips around the top like loosely gathered fabric. Swirls of green run through the glass in drifting bands, and because the marbling wraps all the way round, the vase looks a little different from every side. It flares from a narrower foot to a wide, open mouth, and it stands 24cm tall and 23cm across: a generous size for a full bunch of flowers rather than a single stem. At 1.2KG, it is a substantial piece of glass.

The flared mouth lets stems fan out on their own, so it suits loose, just-picked arrangements from the garden or a generous florist's bunch. A sunny window sill is a natural home for it, where daylight brings out the depth of the marbling, and it sits just as comfortably on a side table beside the sofa, on a sideboard in the hall or in the middle of a dining table. Left empty, the rippled rim and swirling green glass are decorative enough to stand alone on a shelf or mantelpiece. It makes a thoughtful housewarming gift, or a present for anyone who likes to keep fresh flowers in the house.

It is made from 100% glass and is mouthblown, which means each vase is shaped by a glassblower rather than pressed in a mould. That is why the folds of the rim and the run of the marbling vary slightly from one piece to the next, so no two are quite alike. Glass is non-porous, so it will not soak up the water you give your flowers. For styling, keep the arrangement loose and let the stems rise well beyond the rim, so the green of the leaves picks up the green in the glass; the styling props shown are not included.
