Description

The TorlanECO is a 720mm (2ft) IP65-rated LED batten delivering 1800 lumens of 5700K daylight white light through an opal polycarbonate diffuser. The integrated 18W LED runs on 230V mains with no external driver, housed in a white polycarbonate body rated IP65 for water and dust ingress and IK06 for impact resistance. A hinged tray opens for wiring access, and fast-fix mounting brackets allow the batten to be installed on ceilings or walls in under five minutes.

Designed for garages, outbuildings, cycle stores, storage rooms, commercial corridors and light industrial settings, the TorlanECO provides utility-grade lighting at a low capital and running cost. The 125-degree beam angle gives wide area coverage from a single fitting, reducing the number of battens needed for a given floorspace. The batten supports standard BESA box alignment for retrofitting over existing ceiling points, and a compression gland seals the cable entry point to maintain the IP65 rating once installed.

The polycarbonate construction keeps the weight below 500g while maintaining structural rigidity and impact tolerance. The opal diffuser softens the LED array without creating visible hotspots, producing an even wash across the lit surface. The non-dimmable driver delivers 103 lumens per watt from the LED source, with a CRI above 80 and an L70B50 rating of 30,000 hours. The 5700K colour temperature produces a cool daylight tone that suits task-focused environments where colour accuracy is secondary to visibility and running cost.

What does IP65 mean for installation?

IP65 means the batten is sealed against dust ingress and can withstand low-pressure water jets from any direction. It can be installed outdoors under a canopy, in damp garages, or in washdown areas where occasional water exposure occurs. It is not rated for submersion or continuous spray.

Can this batten be dimmed?

No. The integrated LED driver is non-dimmable. If dimming is required, consider Knightsbridge's EMLITE range which includes dimmable variants.

How is the batten wired?

The polycarbonate tray hinges open to reveal push-fit terminal blocks. The mains cable enters through a compression gland at one end of the batten, which must be tightened after wiring to maintain the IP65 seal. The batten is Class II (double-insulated) so no earth connection is needed.

What area does one batten cover?

The 125-degree beam angle and 1800-lumen output suit spaces of approximately 6-9 square metres for general utility lighting. For task-focused areas or where higher lux levels are required, multiple battens should be spaced 1.5-2m apart.
