Description
This round stoneware vase is 25cm across and 26cm tall, nearly as wide as it is high, so it has the full, generous body of a traditional jar rather than the narrow line of a stem vase. Its white surface carries bold, contrasting stripes that wave and break like a zebra's coat, framed by a band at the shoulder and another just above the foot. A fine contrasting line traces the rim, and two small loop handles sit either side of the short neck. Up close the surface is lightly textured and grainy, which softens the edges of the stripes and gives the whole piece an earthy, tactile look.
It is a vase for somewhere it can be seen from every side: a sideboard, a console table in the hallway, a deep bookshelf or a low plinth beside the sofa in a living room. The rounded body and short neck suit a loose handful of dried grasses, seed heads or a few tall branches arching out over the handles, and the pattern is strong enough that it can just as easily stand empty as a sculptural object. It suits a calm, neutral room that wants one graphic accent, and it sits happily beside natural textures such as rattan, wool and pale wood.
The vase is made entirely of stoneware, a dense ceramic fired at high temperature, and at 1.85KG it has a reassuring weight in the hand. The stripes run all the way round the body, so there is no plain back to turn towards a wall, and the loop handles are small, neat details that echo its rounded shape. It comes on its own, and the styling props shown are not included. For a balanced arrangement, choose stems that rise well above the rim, or pair it with a plainer, taller piece nearby so the stripes have room to breathe.
