Description

This porcelain mug and coaster set is a gentle way to tell Mum how much she means, with Thumper from Bambi sketched in soft charcoal lines beside the words 'mum, there is no bunny like you'. The mug has a white gloss finish and a softly tapered shape, wider at the base than the rim, with sage green leaves, tiny pink berries and a line-drawn daisy around the lettering, and the design appears on both sides. It holds 410ml, enough for a proper mug of tea, and measures 9.5cm tall, 10cm wide and 10.6cm deep. The coaster is a scalloped flower shape, with Thumper peeping in from one edge and fine tone-on-tone wildflowers across the rest.

We think it makes a lovely Mother's Day gift, whether it comes from a son or daughter or from the whole family, and it suits any mum who grew up with Bambi or simply has a soft spot for rabbits. At home it belongs wherever her first cup of the day happens: on the kitchen worktop, beside her favourite chair, on a bedside table or at a desk while she works. The coaster gives her mug a place of its own on a side table or windowsill, and with Thumper on both pieces the two look made for each other.

The mug is porcelain with a smooth gloss glaze, and the coaster matches it in white. To keep the print looking its best, we suggest washing the mug gently by hand with a soft cloth, and wiping the coaster with a damp cloth before drying both pieces. For a Mother's Day morning, fill the mug with her favourite tea, set it on its coaster and bring it to her with a card, or tuck a few teabags and a bar of chocolate inside for a gift that feels thoughtful from the first sip.
