Description

The Tembesi is a planter made from aluminium, 30cm across and 25cm high, with a rounded body that draws in to a flat base and turns out again into a rolled rim at the top. The outside is covered in a fine etched grid of small squares, worked in close rows from just below the rim down to the foot, so the surface reads as texture rather than as a pattern. It is finished in antique brass.

It holds 13,000ml, and at 30cm across it takes a good sized house plant and stands on the floor. It is suitable for outdoor use as well as indoors, so it works on a step, a terrace or a porch. It takes an inner pot rather than planting straight into it.

The planter is aluminium under an antique brass finish. The etched detail is all done by hand, so the grid runs slightly differently over every pot and the depth of the marking varies across the body. At 0.68kg it is light enough to move once the plant is out of it. The Tembesi planter is also made in a small and a large.
