Description

The large Tembesi planter is 32cm tall and 36cm across, made in aluminium with a rounded belly that draws in to a flat base. The outside is antique black and covered all over in a hand etched pattern, a dense grid of small marks worked in close horizontal bands that catches the light as a fine crosshatch. The inside is antique brass, and it shows at the rim as a band of warm gold against the black.

It holds 25 litres and the rim is the widest part of the pot at 36cm, so the opening is as wide as the planter itself. It is suitable for outdoor use as well as indoors. Nothing goes straight into the metal, though: it needs an inner pot.

The planter is aluminium throughout, and the two tones are finishes on the same metal, black outside and antique brass within. The etching is done by hand, so the density of the marks and the way the bands line up are not identical on any two pots. The Tembesi planter is made in small, medium and large, in this antique black and brass and in a plain antique brass.
