Description

This wall light is built around a panel of alabaster, a soft natural stone with cloudy veining running through its white body, cut tall with straight sides and rounded ends. An iron band wraps across the lower part of the stone and holds it to an iron back plate that fixes to the wall. It measures 16cm long, 13cm wide and 38cm tall, a size that gives a hallway wall or the space beside a bed a proper presence, and at 1.9KG it is a solid, substantial fitting. Alabaster lets light pass through it, so here the stone itself does the work of a shade.

We like it in a hallway beside a mirror, where the lit stone greets you on the way in and out, and it sits just as well above a bedside table or on a living room wall next to a favourite armchair. The switch is on the cord, so you can turn it on and off from where you are rather than walking to a wall switch, and the 150cm cable gives you useful length when planning where it goes. It is rated IP20, which means dry rooms only, so keep it to hallways, landings, bedrooms and living rooms.

It takes two E14 bulbs, with a maximum of 25W each, or 3W for LED and 6W for CFL. Bulbs are not included, so it is worth having two E14 bulbs ready before you fit it.
