Description
This is a 50 x 50cm cushion carrying William Morris's Strawberry Thief, one of the most recognised patterns in the archive and here worked in indigo. The front is a densely drawn scene of songbirds, strawberry plants and flowering stems, printed in soft ambers, creams and pale blues against a deep indigo ground. A pale piped trim runs the whole way round the edge, and the reverse is a plain indigo panel, so the printed face is the one you turn outward. It is made from 100% polyester and treated for outdoor use.
A 50cm square is the standard scatter size, which makes it easy to pair and easy to place. It suits garden seating, a bench or an outdoor sofa, and it works just as happily indoors on a settee or armchair. The indigo ground reads as a rich, near-navy blue, so it sits comfortably against natural wood, terracotta and warm neutrals, and the amber detailing gives you a warm accent to pick up in a throw or a rug. The pattern is symmetrical and repeats across the face, so it looks balanced however you set it down.
The cover is printed rather than woven, which keeps the fine detail of the birds and foliage crisp, and the material is water-resistant, so a shower will not soak it and it wipes down easily. A zip closure runs along one edge, which means you can take the cover off when you want to. Polyester is hardwearing and holds colour well, which is why it earns its place outdoors where sun and damp are part of the day. Alongside the piped edge, the plain indigo reverse means the cushion still looks considered from behind. Strawberry Thief also appears in other colourways within the wider range.

Frequently Asked
Can this cushion stay outside?

How big is the cushion?
It measures 50 x 50cm, which is the standard scatter cushion size and pairs easily with other cushions on a sofa or bench.
Can I remove the cover?
Yes, there is a zip closure along one edge, so you can take the cover off for cleaning or to adjust the filling as you need.
What does the back look like?
