Description
This is an outdoor cushion carrying the Strawberry Thief design, the William Morris pattern first drawn in 1883, printed here across a deep berry-red ground. Birds face one another in mirrored pairs among trailing foliage, wild strawberries and open flowers worked in soft blues, greens and creams. It measures 50 x 50cm, a full square that holds its shape on a bench or a wide seat, and it is made from 100% polyester. The face carries the print; the reverse is a plain berry red, and a fine piped trim runs the whole way round the seam.
Because it is treated for outdoor use, this cushion belongs on a patio chair, a garden bench or a set of steps where you want somewhere soft to sit without hauling everything indoors at the first cloud. It sits happily alongside the other colourways in the same design, so you can mix the berry with the blue and the green seen here for a layered look across a bench and a low table. Indoors it works just as well on a sofa or a reading chair, where the red ground warms a neutral room and the birds give the eye something to settle on.
The cover is water-resistant, which means light rain and the odd splash wipe away rather than soaking in, and a zip closure lets you take the cover off for cleaning. Polyester is a hard-wearing, quick-drying fibre that copes well with sun and damp, which is why it suits a seat that lives outdoors. The piped edge gives the cushion a firm, defined line rather than a soft rolled seam. Pair it with terracotta pots, wooden furniture and a throw for cooler evenings, or bring it inside over winter to keep the pattern going through the year.

Frequently Asked
Can this cushion stay outside?
It is treated for outdoor use and made from water-resistant polyester, so it copes with a patio or garden bench and the odd shower. For long life we would still bring it in during heavy or prolonged wet weather.
Does the cover come off?
Yes. There is a zip closure along one edge, so you can slip the cover off the pad for cleaning or storage and put it back easily.
What does the back look like?
The printed Strawberry Thief design is on the front face only. The reverse is a plain berry red, and a piped trim runs around the whole seam joining the two.
How big is it?
It is a square 50 x 50cm cushion, a generous size that holds its own on a wide outdoor seat or a sofa and gives good back support.
What is the Strawberry Thief pattern?
It is a William Morris design from 1883 showing thrushes among strawberry plants and flowering foliage, a much-loved piece of English pattern history here rendered in blues, greens and creams on red.
Is it suitable indoors too?
Absolutely. The outdoor treatment does no harm indoors, so it works equally well on a sofa or an armchair where the red ground warms a neutral scheme.
