Description
The Spear is a 30cm graphite-finished spike light with a narrow 1cm cylindrical profile, housing an integrated 1W LED running at 3000K. The white acrylic diffuser at the top softens the LED output into a compact pool of warm light aimed at ground-level highlighting for flower beds, path edges, border planting, and low shrubs. The spike runs on 24V DC, allowing multiple units to be connected to a single transformer.
Designed for permanent outdoor installation in UK gardens, the Spear carries an IP65 rating, protecting the internal LED and wiring from rain, hose spray and soil moisture. The graphite metal finish resists corrosion in damp soil and coastal environments. The spike section extends the total installed height to a maximum of 42.6cm when fully driven into soil or aggregate, with the visible light head remaining at approximately 30cm above ground level for close-range highlighting without glare at eye level.
The 1W output and 3000K colour temperature make the Spear suitable for accent lighting rather than functional path illumination — it creates visual interest and depth in planted borders after dark without overpowering adjacent foliage. The CRI 80 rating ensures plant colours, bark textures and stone features render naturally under the LED. Multiple Spear units can be wired in series to a single 24V power source, making it straightforward to define a path run or border edge with consistent spacing.

Frequently Asked
What power supply does the Spear require?
The spike runs on 24V DC, which requires a mains-to-24V transformer. Multiple Spear units can be wired in series to a single transformer, reducing the number of power sources needed for path or border runs. The transformer is sold separately.
How is it installed in the ground?
The spike section is driven into soil, aggregate or mulch to a maximum depth that brings the total installed height to 42.6cm. In firmer soils, pre-drilling a pilot hole or soaking the ground before installation makes driving the spike easier and reduces the risk of bending the narrow 1cm shaft.
Is 1W bright enough for path lighting?
No. The 1W output is designed for accent and highlighting, not functional path illumination. For walkway safety lighting, use higher-wattage spike or bollard lights spaced at 2-3m intervals. The Spear works best as border definition or to pick out specific plants and features.
Can it be used in coastal or high-moisture areas?
Yes. The IP65 rating and graphite metal finish make the Spear suitable for damp soil, coastal spray and frequent rain exposure. The sealed LED and white acrylic diffuser prevent water ingress into the electrical components.
