The Southwold is a 100cm tall oval vase formed from sheet aluminium with a hand-textured antique brass finish. The barrel-shaped body measures 59cm wide by 31cm deep, with two distinct surface textures: horizontal brushed lines across the upper half and vertical scored grooves across the lower half. The antique brass finish sits between polished brass and aged bronze, offering a mid-tone metallic surface that shows tonal variation where the texturing catches light.

Designed for floor displays in hallways, living rooms and corner alcoves where height is needed without bulk, the vase weighs 6.6kg despite its 100cm height. The aluminium construction keeps the weight manageable for repositioning while giving enough mass to remain stable when placed on rugs or floorboards. The oval footprint of 59cm x 31cm allows it to sit against walls or in corners without requiring a wide clearance zone.

This is a decorative vase, not water-safe. The hand-textured detailing means no two pieces show identical surface patterns where the horizontal and vertical textures meet at the midpoint. Can this vase hold water or fresh flowers?

No. The Southwold is for decorative use only and is not water-safe. The textured aluminium surface and antique brass finish are not sealed to hold liquids. Use it with faux stems or leave it empty as a sculptural accent.

How is the surface textured?

The vase has two hand-applied textures: horizontal brushed lines across the upper section and vertical scored grooves across the lower section. Because the texturing is applied by hand, the exact pattern varies between individual vases.

Is it stable on carpet or rugs?

Yes. The 6.6kg weight and 59cm x 31cm oval base provide sufficient stability on most carpets and rugs. On very thick or shag pile the vase may benefit from being placed where the base sits partly on bare floor.

How is the brass finish maintained?

Wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or light marks, use a barely-damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid metal polishes or chemical cleaners, which can strip the antiqued patina and leave the surface looking uneven.
