Description

The South Beach is a 380mm pendant light with a tapered drum shade hand-painted in alternating black and putty stripes, suspended on a black-and-putty striped cable from a textured star-shaped ceiling rose. A gold leaf palm finial hangs below the shade, and a smaller gold sphere sits at the cable junction above, giving the fitting a coastal-nautical character without leaning into literal marine styling.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and hallway positions where a single pendant with strong decorative presence works better than a plain fitting, the South Beach pairs task and ambient lighting in one. The 420mm shade drop can be extended to 1000mm on installation by adjusting cable length, allowing it to hang 700-900mm above a dining surface or kitchen worktop depending on ceiling height. The shade accepts a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose warm LED or vintage-style filament bulbs to suit the room.

The hand-painted stripes on the metal and resin shade give each piece slight tonal variation and brushstroke texture rather than a factory-perfect finish. The putty bands show a speckled, slightly weathered surface that contrasts with the matt black sections, while the gold leaf palm finial and sphere add warm metallic accents that catch light from the bulb and from daylight entering the room. The star-shaped ceiling rose carries an etched texture that references cobblestone paving, adding a tactile detail to the upper fixing point.

Can the drop height be adjusted?

Yes. The cable length is adjustable on installation from a minimum drop of 506mm to a maximum of 1000mm. Once installed, the height is fixed unless the fitting is taken down and the cable re-adjusted.

For a dining table or kitchen island, the shade typically sits 700-900mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings can accommodate the pendant if the cable is set to the minimum 506mm drop during fitting.
