Description

These three Christmas candle holders are shaped as small folk-style horses, and each carries its own hand-painted design. One has a row of hearts down its neck, a sprig of greenery, a horn tied with a bow and a pair of candy canes; the next is scattered with snowflakes around the words 'let it snow'; the third wears a folk pattern of birds, leaves, hearts and a central snowflake. They are made from a blend of 55% polyresin and 45% wollastonite, a natural mineral. Polyresin is cast in a mould, so it takes the faceted, carved look of each horse cleanly. Each holder is 9.5cm long, 4.5cm wide and 10cm tall, small enough to stand three abreast on a narrow shelf.

A candle stands upright in the opening on each horse's back, so together they make a low, cheerful centrepiece for a Christmas table, a mantelpiece or a deep windowsill. Grouped, they read as a small herd; set apart, one can sit on a hall console, another on a bookshelf and the third among the cards on a sideboard.
