Description

A lantern 76.5cm tall on a 20cm square base, built as a slim metal frame around four tall panels of clear glass. One panel is hinged as a door and closes on a small round catch set halfway up that side. The top is a flat plate with a raised square chimney above it, and a thin wire handle arches over that. Inside, a flat metal tray sits just above the base plate and carries the candle.

At 76.5cm this stands on the floor rather than on a table. The three sizes stand together well, this one the tallest of them. A hearth, the corner of a hall or either side of a doorway all take it at that height. The glass runs the full height of each side, so a candle burning low inside stays visible from across the room instead of dropping behind a rim. Indoor use only.

The frame is zinc and the panels are glass. The metal is soldered around the glass with traditional tools, and because that is done by hand there are weld marks along the joins of every piece. The Sia range runs to three lanterns, from 33.5cm up to 76.5cm. No candle is included.

Wipe the frame with a soft, dry cloth, and use a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass. To take off any build up of wax, use warm water with a mild dish soap, dry immediately and do not soak it.
