Description

These are four round stoneware cups, each holding 400ml, so you have a matching set in one order. At 10.5cm across and 8cm tall they are low and wide, with a rounded body that fits neatly in cupped hands and a looped handle at the side. The blue glaze is glossy, with a contrasting band at the rim that runs down the sides in an uneven line, and fine ribbed rings circle the lower half of each cup. No two cups carry quite the same line where the band meets the blue, so the four look related rather than identical.

A 400ml cup is a generous size, with room for a large tea, a milky coffee or a hot chocolate and space left at the top for froth. They suit the breakfast table, a pot of tea shared at the kitchen table on a slow weekend, or a long morning at the desk when you want a drink that lasts. Four cups suit a family of four or a small table of friends, and because they match, they are easy to lay out together whenever guests visit.

Stoneware is dense and hard-wearing, and it holds heat well. These cups are food safe and go in the dishwasher, so they suit everyday use. They are not microwave safe or oven safe: warm milk in a pan or a microwave jug first, then pour it into the cup. The styling props shown are not included. For a practical display, keep all four in a row on an open shelf near the kettle, where the glaze lines sit side by side and every cup is within easy reach; beside plain tableware, the blue brings a quiet note of colour to the table.
