Description
This long, low cabinet is made entirely of rubberwood and measures 120cm long, 45cm wide and 55cm tall, in a soft beige with the grain showing clearly through the finish. Two doors run across the front, each built from vertical boards inside a frame with rounded edges, and they meet in the middle at a pair of half-round pulls that together form a circle. Rubberwood is a hardwood with a fine, even grain, which suits plain, clean lines like these and gives the piece a calm, natural look.
At 55cm tall it stands at low sideboard height, so it fits under a window, along a hallway wall or in a living room beneath a pair of framed prints. Behind the doors one shelf divides the inside into two compartments, and round openings in the back panel let cables pass through, which makes it a practical home for a set-top box, a router or a speaker with the leads kept out of sight. The 45cm depth leaves room for books, board games or baskets on either level, and the top takes a lamp or a few ceramics.
The cabinet is finished in a water based lacquer, and the legs are natural rubberwood, angled outwards and joined by stretchers beneath the body. Care is simple: wipe it clean with a moist cloth. It weighs 32.5KG, so it is a substantial piece to move into place, and the maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download. For styling, the beige wood sits easily beside glazed ceramics, linen and woven textiles; keep the top to a few pieces of different heights so the boarded doors still read clearly. The styling props shown are not included.
