Description
The Sawyer is a 381mm flush-mount outdoor ceiling light with a dark brown wood-effect frame wrapped around a white glass diffuser, housing three E14 bulbs (sold separately) behind the glass. The low-profile design sits 120mm from the ceiling, keeping the fitting compact for covered outdoor spaces with limited headroom.
Built for covered outdoor areas such as porches, pergolas, garden rooms and patio canopies, the Sawyer carries an IP44 rating for protection against splashing water and solid objects larger than 1mm. The wood-effect finish on the metal frame mimics the grain and tone of stained timber without the maintenance requirements of real wood, pairing cleanly with timber-clad ceilings, exposed beams and neutral-toned render.
The white diffuser spreads light evenly downwards and outwards, reducing glare while providing ambient illumination across seating areas and doorways. The frame is secured at four points by dark metal brackets visible in the side profile, giving the fitting a simple industrial-meets-rustic construction. The 40W maximum per bulb allows flexibility to choose warm-white LEDs for softer evening light or higher-lumen output for functional outdoor task lighting.

Frequently Asked
Can the Sawyer be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?
No. The IP44 rating protects against splashing water but not direct rain or hose spray. The fitting must be installed under a covered ceiling such as a porch, pergola or canopy where it is shielded from direct weather exposure.
What bulb should I use?
The Sawyer takes three E14 small Edison screw bulbs up to 40W each, sold separately. Most users choose warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for ambient porch lighting. Clear filament-style LEDs also work if you prefer visible bulb detail through the diffuser.
Is the wood-effect finish real timber?
No. The frame is metal finished with a wood-effect coating that mimics the grain and colour of stained timber. This avoids the weathering, splitting and maintenance issues of real wood in outdoor conditions.
How is the fitting installed?
The Sawyer mounts to a standard ceiling junction box using the central fixing plate. The white diffuser is removable for bulb access, held in place by the four visible metal brackets around the frame perimeter.
