Description

The Sanja is a straight sided drum in handwoven cotton, off white with a fine dark stripe stitched in at close intervals down its length. The stripes stand slightly proud and waver rather than running true, and the cotton is a coarse plain weave with the slub visible in it. The sides are parallel. This is the extra large: 26.5cm tall and 37.5cm across, only slightly larger than the large but enough to change which bases it will sit on.

At 37.5cm across this wants a floor lamp base or a substantial table lamp, and the straight sides mean it stands above the base rather than covering it, so whatever it sits on stays part of the lamp. Hung from a ceiling it reads as a plain cylinder with a vertical rhythm running round it, which suits a room where a patterned shade would be too much and a plain one too little. It weighs 0.56kg.

The stripe is stitched onto the woven cotton by hand over an iron frame, so the spacing and the line of it differ from shade to shade. The Sanja range runs from small through medium and large to this extra large. No bulb, base or fitting is included.
