Description

The Sangamo 72201 is a 2-channel programmable time switch designed for DIN rail mounting in standard consumer units and industrial control panels. Each channel provides a 16A volt-free changeover contact, allowing independent scheduling of two separate circuits from a single 2-module wide unit. The astro function automatically adjusts switching times based on sunrise and sunset throughout the year, removing the need for manual seasonal reprogramming.

Used in residential, commercial and industrial automation, the 72201 controls outdoor lighting, heating circuits, ventilation systems, irrigation pumps and access control gates where timed operation reduces energy waste and improves security. The unit fits standard 35mm DIN rail and occupies two module spaces in a typical consumer unit. The LCD display shows the current time, active channel status and next scheduled switching event, with navigation via three front-panel buttons.

The 72201 stores up to 60 separate switching events across both channels, with daily, weekly or custom date programming available. A 10-year lithium battery reserve maintains the clock and stored programmes during mains power loss, preventing schedule drift after temporary outages. The unit accepts programming via the front panel or through Sangamo's optional EasyVUE wireless hub and key system, which allows multiple time switches to be configured from a single handheld programmer without removing the DIN rail unit.

The astro function calculates local sunrise and sunset times based on the programmed geographical location and date. Switching events can be set to trigger at dawn, dusk, or a fixed offset before or after these times, automatically adjusting throughout the year without manual intervention.

How many switching events can be programmed?

The 72201 stores up to 60 separate switching events across both channels combined. Events can be set to repeat daily, on specific weekdays, or on individual calendar dates. Each channel operates independently with its own set of programmes.

What is the EasyVUE system?

EasyVUE is Sangamo's optional wireless programming system consisting of a handheld key programmer and a wireless hub. The system allows multiple time switches to be configured from a single programmer without removing the units from the DIN rail or accessing the front panel directly. The key and hub are sold separately.

How long does the battery reserve last?

The internal lithium battery reserve is rated for 10 years. It maintains the clock and all stored programmes during mains power outages, preventing schedule drift and eliminating the need to reprogram after temporary power loss.
