Description

This deep plate sits halfway between a plate and a bowl: it is 22cm across and 5cm tall, with gently sloping sides and a capacity of 900ml. It is made entirely of stoneware and finished in a grey reactive glaze with a fine speckle running through it. That depth is the point. Pasta, risotto, salads and stews stay put, and sauce gathers in the well instead of running over the edge. At 0.661KG it has a satisfying weight in the hand without being a chore to carry from the kitchen.

We think of it as the dish for one-bowl suppers: a twirl of spaghetti in tomato sauce, a leafy salad scattered with radish and seeds, or smoked salmon on rye with asparagus.
