Sakiti Medium Boucle Lampshade - Off White

The Sakiti is a tapered drum in cotton boucle, off white, lined pale inside. Boucle is woven from a looped yarn, so the surface carries small raised nubs rather than lying flat, and the light catches the tops of them while the spaces between stay in shadow. This is the medium: 18.5cm tall and 30.5cm across.

Thirty centimetres is the width most ordinary table lamps are built around, so this is the size that fits a lamp already in the room. What boucle brings to it is texture without pattern and without colour: on a turned wooden base or a clear glass body it adds surface where a plain cotton would add nothing, and it does that in a neutral that will not fight anything else in the room. Lit, the loops let light through between them and the nubs hold it back, so the shade reads as a field of small bright points rather than an even glow. It weighs 0.39kg.
