Description

The Saharsa is a king bed frame in mango wood with handwoven cane set into the headboard and the footboard. The headboard stands 102cm from the floor and carries a wide cane panel in a framed surround; the footboard is lower and carries cane panels of its own, divided into sections. The frame stands on short square legs, and the base is slatted right across its width. Overall it measures 158.1cm wide and 213.7cm long.

It takes a UK king mattress, which is not included. The frame runs 158.1cm wide and 213.7cm long overall, so a room needs that much plus space to walk at the sides and at the foot. It is rated to 400kg. With the headboard against a plain wall, the cane reads paler than the wood framing it and the weave is open enough to see the wall through.

The frame is mango wood and the panels are cane. Mango is cut for timber only once the trees have stopped bearing fruit. Every cane panel is woven by hand, so the weave sits a little differently in each one. The Saharsa is also made as a double and as a super king.

Frequently Asked

What size mattress does it take?

A UK king. The mattress is not included.

What are the overall dimensions?

158.1cm wide, 213.7cm long and 102cm high at the headboard.

What weight will it take?

400kg.

Does it have a slatted base?

Yes, running the full width.

What other sizes is it made in?

A double and a super king.

How do I look after the mango wood?

Wash it in warm soapy water, rinse it and dry it straight away. Mango is a tropical timber and central heating can dry it out, which may crack or warp it, so feed it now and then with an edible oil such as olive or walnut worked in with a soft cloth. The oil sits on the surface rather than soaking in, so it needs doing again after any wash, and it will darken the tone.
