Description

A pair of dinner candles, each 20.5cm tall and 2cm across the base, in a deep cherry red. Each one tapers from the base towards the wick, and the surface is left pitted and uneven from the mould rather than rubbed smooth, so the texture runs the full length of the candle. The two arrive banded together in a paper wrap.

At 20.5cm these are full-length dinner candles rather than short tapers, and the 2cm base is made for a holder that takes a tapered candle rather than a pillar. That puts them on a dining table or a mantelpiece, with the flame carried well above the height of a plate or a serving dish.

The wax is a soy and paraffin blend, hand-poured into moulds in small batches in India, which is what leaves the surface uneven. Two candles come in a set. The same candle is poured in white, charcoal, rust, olive green and sage green as well as this dark cherry.
