Description
A pillar candle 15cm tall and 8cm across, poured in a soy wax blend and left with a heavily textured surface. The wax is a deep charcoal grey, pitted and channelled all over, with a paler grey bloom caught in the hollows so the tone shifts as the surface turns away from the light. The top is flat and carries the same texture, with a single wick at the centre.
At 8cm across this is a wide pillar rather than a slim one and it stands unaided on a flat surface. It was proportioned for holders built to take a larger candle, so it sits in a pillar holder rather than one made for a dinner candle. On a sideboard or a mantelpiece it carries a corner on its own, and at 15cm tall a line of them down the middle of a table stays below eye level across it.
The wax is a soy and paraffin blend, hand poured into moulds in small batches in India, and the rough surface comes out of the pouring rather than being worked in afterwards. The same pillar is made in white, olive green, rust, sage green and dark cherry as well as this charcoal, and in a larger size at 18 x 10cm. A holder is not included.

Frequently Asked
How long can it burn at a time?
No more than four hours in one sitting.
Does it come with a holder?
No. The candle is sold on its own.
What holder does it fit?
It is 8cm across the base and 15cm tall, and it was proportioned for holders made to take a larger pillar rather than a dinner candle.
What is the wax?
A soy and paraffin blend, hand poured into moulds in small batches in India.
How do I burn it safely?
Keep it within sight and never leave it burning unattended. Do not move it while it is lit or until the wax has hardened, keep matches and soot out of the wax, and keep it away from flammable materials. It can drip, so burn it on a non porous heat resistant surface that will catch the molten wax, and trim the wick to 0.6cm before lighting.
