Description

A pillar candle 8cm tall and 7cm across, hand poured from a soy wax blend. The surface is rustic rather than smooth: the wax is faintly pitted and rippled where it met the mould, and the top is domed and a little uneven around a single central wick. The wax is an off-white rather than a bright white.

At 8cm tall and 7cm across it sits inside most pillar holders rather than standing proud of them, and it is low enough to group along a table without blocking the line of sight across it.

The wax is a soy and paraffin blend, poured by hand into moulds in small batches in India, which is where the uneven surface comes from. The same candle is made in six colours: this white, plus olive, rust, charcoal, dark cherry and sage green. No holder is included.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

8cm tall and 7cm across.

What is the wax?

A soy and paraffin blend, poured by hand in small batches.

Does it come in other colours?

Yes. The same candle is made in olive, rust, charcoal, dark cherry and sage green.

How long should the first burn be?

About one hour per inch of diameter, which sets a melt pool reaching the edge and leaves a firm outer shell. This one is 7cm across, so a little under three hours. Do not burn it for more than four hours at a time.

How should it be looked after?

Trim the wick to 0.6cm before each burn, which keeps the burn even and cuts down soot. Burn it on a non-porous, heat-resistant surface, as it may drip. Keep it clear of matches, soot and anything flammable, never move it while it is lit or before the wax has hardened, always burn it within sight, and never leave it unattended.
