Description

The Maytoni DL058 is a 7W LED recessed downlight with a trimless design that sits flush with plasterboard ceilings once plastered in. The black aluminium housing features a deep-set reflector that directs a focused beam of 3000K warm white light downward, minimising spill and reducing glare when viewed from typical standing or seated positions. The 54mm aperture provides a defined circle of light against the ceiling plane.

Designed for plaster-in installation, the downlight uses a perforated metal mounting plate that clips into the ceiling void before the plasterboard is sealed and finished around the aperture. This gives a flush, uninterrupted ceiling surface with no visible trim ring or bezel once installed. The black finish inside the aperture provides contrast against white or light-coloured ceilings and works across both residential and commercial projects where a minimal ceiling profile is required.

The aluminium construction acts as a passive heatsink for the integrated 7W LED, which runs on 220-240V AC mains without an external driver. The 3000K colour temperature produces a warm white light output suited to living rooms, hallways, hotel corridors and retail fitting rooms where a welcoming tone is preferred over cooler daylight white. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor environments.

What does trimless mean?

Trimless installation means the downlight sits flush with the plasterboard ceiling once the ceiling is finished around it. There is no visible bezel or trim ring projecting below the ceiling plane. The perforated mounting plate is plastered over during the ceiling fit-out, leaving only the 54mm aperture visible.

Can this be installed after the ceiling is finished?

No. Trimless downlights require the plasterboard to be cut and finished around the aperture during the ceiling installation. If the ceiling is already finished, a standard downlight with a trim ring would be needed instead.

Is the light dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific driver built into the fitting. The product manual may specify if the integrated LED supports mains dimming. Contact us before pairing with a dimmer switch to confirm compatibility.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The fitting requires a minimum 53mm ceiling void depth to accommodate the aluminium housing and heatsink above the ceiling line. Standard UK suspended ceilings and timber joist ceilings typically provide adequate clearance.
