Description

The Romulus is a 45cm abstract figurine cast in polyresin with a rough bronze-effect finish, set on a matte black rectangular base. The sculpture features three curved projections rising from a central organic mass, forming negative-space openings between the flowing forms. The bronze patina has been applied unevenly to create darker recesses and lighter highlights on the raised surfaces, giving the piece a hand-finished appearance.

Designed as a decorative object rather than functional lighting, the Romulus sits on consoles, sideboards, mantels or low shelving in living rooms, hallways and studies. The 45cm width makes it proportionally suited to surfaces 100-150cm wide, where it can anchor a display without overwhelming adjacent books or framed photographs. The 3.8kg weight gives stability on most surfaces without requiring fixing or additional ballast.

The swirling form draws from mid-century modernist sculpture, with the flowing curves and pierced openings recalling the work of Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. The Romulus is cast polyresin with a bronze-effect finish applied to the surface. It replicates the appearance of oxidised bronze but at a lower weight and cost than solid metal casting.

How is it cleaned?

Wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or marks on the bronze finish, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable but avoid soaking the base or using household sprays, which may strip the patina.

What surface size does it suit?

The 45cm width works on consoles, sideboards or shelving units between 100-150cm wide. The 19.5cm depth means it can sit on surfaces as shallow as 25cm without projecting beyond the edge.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. Polyresin is not weather-resistant and the bronze finish will degrade under UV exposure and moisture. The Romulus is designed for indoor use only.
