Description

The Knightsbridge RJ45 network outlet provides a single shuttered CAT5e Ethernet port behind a black nickel screwless faceplate. The outlet uses IDC (insulation displacement connector) terminals on the rear, allowing standard UTP network cable to be terminated without stripping individual conductors. A termination tool is included with the outlet.

Designed for hardwired networking points in home offices, media rooms, and areas where Wi-Fi signal is inconsistent or insufficient for high-bandwidth tasks like file transfers, streaming and gaming. The shuttered port keeps dust and debris out of the RJ45 socket when not in use, and the built-in gasket behind the faceplate provides a clean seal against the wall surface.

The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate steel sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The black nickel finish provides a dark metallic accent that pairs with contemporary, industrial and monochrome interiors. A write-on designation label on the rear of the faceplate allows the outlet to be identified during installation or future maintenance. The outlet is certified to BS 5733 and carries an IP20 rating for indoor dry-location use.

The outlet is rated for CAT5e UTP (unshielded twisted pair) cable, which supports Gigabit Ethernet speeds up to 1000 Mbps over cable runs up to 100 metres. It will also accept CAT6 cable if already installed, though the outlet itself is CAT5e-rated.

What back box depth is required?

A 35mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is a termination tool included?

Yes. The outlet ships with an IDC termination tool for punching down the cable conductors onto the rear terminals without stripping the insulation from individual wires.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate steel sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the outlet and re-clipped without disturbing the cable terminations.
