Description

The Knightsbridge RJ11 outlet module provides a single telephone socket in a 25 x 50mm grey ABS housing designed to fit euro-module faceplates. The module uses insulation displacement connector (IDC) terminals on the rear, allowing telephone cable cores to be punched down without stripping the insulation. The RJ11 socket on the front accepts standard UK telephone plugs and is certified to BS 5733 for telecoms applications.

Designed for residential and light commercial telephone installations, the module fits into modular grid faceplates alongside other euro-module accessories such as data sockets, TV outlets and switches. The 25mm width occupies a single module space in most grid systems, making it suitable for single-gang or multi-gang installations where space is limited. The 18mm recessed depth requires a minimum 25mm back box depth for safe installation.

The grey ABS finish matches neutral wall colours and coordinates with grey grid faceplates from Knightsbridge and other manufacturers. The IP20 rating provides protection against finger contact and solid objects larger than 12.5mm, making it suitable for dry internal environments such as bedrooms, home offices and living rooms. The IDC terminals on the rear accept solid or stranded telephone cable cores and maintain secure contact without screws or separate connectors.

Frequently Asked

What is an IDC terminal?

IDC stands for insulation displacement connector. The terminal pushes through the cable insulation to make contact with the copper core, so there's no need to strip the cable before connecting. This speeds up installation and reduces the risk of wiring errors.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 25mm back box depth is needed. The module has an 18mm recessed depth, and the back box must accommodate both the module and the connected cable behind it.

Is this compatible with euro-module faceplates?

Yes. The 25 x 50mm footprint is the standard euro-module size and fits most modular grid faceplates from Knightsbridge and other manufacturers. The module occupies a single-module space in the grid.

What environments can it be used in?

The IP20 rating makes this suitable for dry internal environments only — bedrooms, home offices, living rooms and hallways. It should not be used in bathrooms, kitchens near sinks, or outdoor locations where moisture is present.
