Description
A set of two shallow glass dishes for tealights, one larger and one smaller. Each is a low open bowl with a soft uneven rim, the upper half silvered to a milky white that turns towards mirror as the light moves across it, and the lower half crusted with chips of recycled glass pressed into the surface. The crust is coarse and stands proud of the wall, so the two halves of each dish feel quite different under the hand.
Because the dishes are shallow, a tealight sits close to the rim rather than deep inside, so the flame shows from across a table as well as from directly above. Lit, the silvered wall carries the light round the bowl and the crusted base breaks it into small points. Standing the two together gives two heights of flame rather than one, on a mantel, a windowsill or the centre of a table.
The glass is recycled and hand blown, then silvered by hand using a traditional mirroring method, which is what leaves the surface uneven and aged. Chips of recycled glass are pressed into the outside while the glass is still hot, so the crust falls differently on every dish. Candles are not included.

Frequently Asked
How many come in a set?
Two, one larger and one smaller.
What candle does each one take?
A tealight. The dishes are shallow and open, so the tealight stands on the base rather than dropping into a socket.
Can they be used outdoors?
No. These are for indoor use only.
What is the crusted band round the bottom?
Chips of recycled glass, pressed into the outside of each dish while the glass is still hot.
Do they get hot in use?
Yes. Stand the candle securely and keep the flame away from the glass. Keep them out of reach of children, let them cool fully before handling them, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
How do I look after them?
Wipe them regularly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent a build up of dust or dirt, using a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass. Warm water and a mild dish soap will take off excess wax; dry them immediately afterwards and do not leave them to soak.
