Rigby Stoneware Candle Holder - Grey

The Rigby is a stoneware candle holder in grey, 25cm tall and 11.5cm across, shaped like a turned column. A slim stem rises from a round, flared foot, stepped with raised rings and fine darker bands, and opens at the top into a shallow dish with a small pinched lip on one side. The candle stands in the centre of that dish, so the whole piece reads as one continuous form rather than a cup perched on a stick. It is made of 100% stoneware and weighs 0.49KG, light enough to carry from the dining table to the mantelpiece whenever needed.

That height lifts a slim dinner candle well clear of the surface beneath it, which suits a dining table, a sideboard or a mantelpiece where a little extra height counts. On its own it brings a calm focal point to a windowsill or a hallway console; beside a vase of dried stems on the corner of a bookshelf it looks quietly at home. The grey glaze sits easily with natural wood, linen and other pottery, so it fits rustic, Scandinavian and simple modern rooms alike. It suits anyone who likes ceramics with visible character, and it makes a thoughtful housewarming present.

The body is 100% stoneware. Stoneware is a dense ceramic fired at high temperature, and here it is finished in a glaze that shows darker lines along the rings of the stem. The maker notes that, due to the nature of the glaze, colour variations may occur, so the shading on yours may be slightly its own. The shallow dish sits beneath the candle, and a dish in that position catches drips of wax before they reach the table. For a fuller arrangement, pair it with a second holder of a different height, letting the rings of the stem carry the look. The styling props shown are not included.
