Description
This is a stoneware storage jar with a flat acacia lid, holding 980ml and standing 14.5cm tall and 12.5cm across. Its rounded body narrows gently toward the base, and the whole surface is covered in a pink reactive glaze that runs into darker drips and streaks, heaviest near the rim and the foot. Reactive glazes move as they fire, so the pattern settles in its own way on every jar and no two are quite alike. At 1KG it is a solid, substantial piece in the hand.
With a capacity of 980ml, it is a useful size for the things you reach for every day: coffee beans, loose tea, sugar, oats or a stash of biscuits. The maker lists it as approved for food, so dry goods can go straight in. It sits comfortably on a kitchen worktop beside the kettle, on an open shelf or on a windowsill, where the glossy glaze catches the light. Away from the kitchen, it works just as well holding cotton pads, hair ties or small odds and ends on a dressing table or desk.
The body is stoneware under its reactive glaze, and the lid is acacia wood with a silicone ring on its underside that helps it sit snugly in the opening. It does not go in the microwave or the oven, so keep it for storage rather than warming anything through. Wood does not take kindly to a long soak, so we would wipe the lid clean rather than leave it standing in water. For styling, the warm wood of the lid sits nicely against the pink, and the jar looks good grouped with plain white crockery or against a painted shelf in soft green.

Frequently Asked
What is the storage jar made of?
The body is stoneware finished in a reactive glaze, and the flat lid is acacia wood with a silicone ring on its underside.
How much does the jar hold and how big is it?
It holds 980ml and stands 14.5cm tall and 12.5cm across, a handy size for coffee beans, tea, sugar or oats on the worktop.
Can I keep food in it?
Yes. The maker lists it as approved for food, so it suits dry goods such as coffee, loose tea, pasta, rice or biscuits.
Can the jar go in the microwave or the oven?
No. The maker says it is not for the microwave or the oven, so keep it for storage rather than heating.
Does it come with the lid?
Yes. The jar comes with its flat acacia lid, which has a silicone ring underneath to help it sit snugly in the opening.
Is the glaze pattern the same on every jar?
No. Reactive glazes move as they fire, so the drips and streaks settle differently on every jar, though each one is pink.
