Description
This is a stoneware storage jar with a 1330ml capacity, glazed in pink and closed with a lid of acacia wood. It stands 18cm tall and 12.5cm across, with a rounded shoulder that narrows gently towards the base. The glaze is a reactive one, and it is what makes this jar itself: the pink runs down the body in layered, scalloped drips, streaked with darker marks and settling into a deeper band at the foot. Reactive glazes move in the kiln, so the pattern is never quite repeated.
It belongs in the kitchen. The maker lists it as suitable for food, so it can hold the things you reach for every day: coffee, loose tea, sugar, oats or pasta. At 1330ml it is a generous everyday jar rather than a small spice pot, and at 12.5cm across it takes little room on a worktop. It suits anyone who likes their kitchen staples on show rather than hidden in a cupboard. We like it just as much on a dresser, an open wall shelf or a pantry shelf, where the glaze can be seen from across the room.
The jar is 90% stoneware, with 9% acacia and 1% silicone; the silicone is the ring on the underside of the lid, which sits into the neck of the jar. At 1.08KG it has a solid, settled weight on the shelf. It is not for the microwave or the oven, so it is for storing rather than heating. Acacia, like any wood, is better wiped than soaked. For styling, give the pink glaze something plain to stand against, such as a pale wall, a painted shelf or a row of simple glass jars, and the drips carry the look on their own.

Frequently Asked
What is the jar made of?
The body is stoneware in a pink reactive glaze and the lid is acacia wood. Overall it is 90% stoneware, 9% acacia and 1% silicone, the silicone forming the ring under the lid.
How big is it and how much does it hold?
It holds 1330ml and stands 18cm tall and 12.5cm across, a generous size for everyday dry goods such as coffee, tea or sugar.
Can I keep food in it?
Yes. The maker lists it as suitable for food, so coffee beans, loose tea, sugar, oats or pasta can go straight in.
Can it go in the microwave or the oven?
No. The maker states it is not for the microwave and not for the oven, so keep it for storage rather than heating anything in it.
Does it come with the lid?
Yes. The jar comes with its acacia lid, which has a silicone ring on the underside that sits into the neck of the jar.
How heavy is it?
It weighs 1.08KG, so it feels solid in the hand and sits steadily on a worktop or an open shelf.
