Description

The small Quinn is the same hammered metal dome as the large, drawn to a point at the top and flaring to a plain rim 26cm across, standing 38cm tall. The whole outside is worked over with overlapping hammer dimples set in rows that follow the curve, each left as the tool made it. The metal is aluminium finished in antique brass, and the inside of the dome carries the same finish, so it lights up warm when the bulb is on. A brass chain and a rust coloured fabric cable run up to an antique brass ceiling rose.

At 26cm across this is the one to hang in a row. Three over a kitchen island or a long table clear each other easily where the 48cm large would not, and each throws its own circle of light straight down through the open rim. The metal is solid, so nothing goes up and the ceiling stays dark. It takes one E27 bulb, it is suitable for use with a dimmer switch, the cable runs 1.7m, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The shade is aluminium, spun and then hammered by hand, so the pattern of dimples is never the same twice and the antique brass sits differently on every one. The cord and chain can be adjusted by a qualified electrician. The Quinn range also holds a large version of the same dome, 48cm across and 44cm tall. Bulbs are not included.

The large is 48cm across and 44cm tall against 26cm and 38cm here, and 2.35kg against 1.58kg. The shape and the finish are the same.

Does any light go upward?

No. The dome is solid metal, so the light leaves through the open rim only.

No. It is done by hand with hand tools, so the pattern of the dimples and the way the antique brass sits over them differ from one shade to the next.

How do I clean it?

Wipe it with a soft dry cloth to keep the dust off. Keep harsh chemical cleaning products away, which can damage the finish.

What is the maximum bulb wattage?

It takes an E27 screw fitting. Fit no more than the maximum wattage marked on the lampholder inside the shade.
