Description

The large Quinn is a metal dome with a drawn out point at the top, flaring into a wide shallow bell and finishing at a plain rim 48cm across. The whole outside is worked over with hammer marks, small overlapping dimples set in rows that follow the curve, each one left as the tool made it. The metal is aluminium finished in antique brass, so the dimples catch the light as hundreds of small highlights rather than as a flat sheen. A brass chain and a rust coloured fabric cable run up to an antique brass ceiling rose. It stands 44cm tall.

The shade is solid, so all of the light leaves through the open rim and none through the metal. A 48cm rim spreads that downward light wide, and the brass inside the dome picks it up and warms it before it goes. Over a dining table it lights the table and leaves the walls dark; in the middle of a living room it does the same to the floor. It takes one E27 bulb, it is suitable for use with a dimmer switch, the cable runs 1.7m, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The shade is aluminium, spun and then hammered by hand, so the pattern of the dimples is never the same twice and the antique brass sits differently on every one. The cord and chain can be adjusted by a qualified electrician. The Quinn range also holds a small version of the same dome. Bulbs are not included.
