QTX RP12 12 Channel DMX Relay Pack - 19" Rack Mount

The QTX RP12 is a 12-channel DMX relay pack providing switched power distribution to twelve IEC outlets, each controlled by an independent relay rather than a dimmer circuit. Each channel handles up to 10A at 230V mains, with the entire unit rated for 30A maximum input. The front panel carries a digital LED display, four control buttons, and twelve power indicator LEDs showing the on/off state of each output.

Designed for stage lighting, event production and permanent installation, the RP12 allows fixtures to be switched on and off via DMX control without the noise and flicker associated with dimmer packs. The unit operates in configurable modes: 12-channel (one DMX channel per output), 6-channel (pairs of outputs per channel), 3-channel (four outputs per channel), 2-channel (six outputs per channel), or 1-channel (all twelve outputs on a single channel). Manual override mode allows outputs to be controlled from the front panel without a DMX signal.

The 2U 19" rack-mountable chassis measures 440mm wide by 205mm deep and weighs 3.8kg, allowing it to be mounted in standard rack cases for mobile use or in fixed control positions. The relay switching provides clean on/off transitions, making the RP12 suitable for controlling LED fixtures, moving heads, and other stage equipment where smooth dimming is not required but precise power control is needed. What's the difference between a relay pack and a dimmer pack?

A relay pack provides simple on/off switching for each channel, while a dimmer pack provides variable power control for smooth fading and dimming. Relays produce no flicker and are quieter in operation, making them better suited to controlling LED fixtures, moving heads, and other equipment that does not require dimming. Dimmers are needed for incandescent fixtures and situations where smooth intensity control is required.

How do the configurable channel modes work?

In 12-channel mode, each of the twelve outputs is controlled by a separate DMX channel. In 6-channel mode, outputs 1 and 2 share a channel, 3 and 4 share a channel, and so on. In 3-channel mode, four outputs are grouped per channel. In 2-channel mode, six outputs share each channel. In 1-channel mode, all twelve outputs switch together on a single DMX channel. The mode is selected via the front panel controls.

Can it be used without a DMX signal?

Yes. The RP12 includes a manual operation mode that allows each output to be switched on and off from the front panel controls without needing a DMX controller connected. This is useful for testing fixtures or for simple on/off control in situations where DMX is not available.
